Prof. Barış ÖKÇÜN
Head of Cardiology Department Prof.Dr.Barış Ökçün stated that two of the 4 valves in the heart are the aortic valve and the mitral valve, which can occur with stenosis and this leakage, and that valve disease can usually occur in people with congenital rheumatism, and either narrowing or leakage can develop in this valve. Prof.Dr.Barış Ökçün stated that mitral valve disease is common in Turkey due to the high prevalence of rheumatic diseases, whereas in Northern Cyprus, rheumatic diseases are at a lower level and therefore less.
